All Sako 85 models have free-floating barrels manufactured by Sako specialists. Barrel blanks are drilled, honed, cold-hammer forged and finished, and finally individually inspected by a complex, highly refined, optical fine-tuning instrument: the human eye. Twist rate is chosen for each caliber to optimize accuracy and bullet performance. The Sako 85 barrels, blued or stainless, have a non-reflecting, satin-like surface. The Sako 85 stainless steel barrels are made from stainless steel with increased chromium content for better weather resistance and durability.

The ergonomics of the Sako 85 Walnut stock have been optimized to guarantee the best shooting posture. The excellent balance and smooth bolt operation of Sako rifles make for phenomenal straight, accurate, fast shooting.

Sako rifles feature our famous claw extractor made of a very durable, heattreated special steel. When the bolt brings the case back, it is ejected out of the rifle by the active mechanical ejector fork. The ejector is in the rear bridge bottom, not in the bolt face. The bolt is one-piece construction for superior strength and durability.
