Going into 2019, long-range shooters have several new options to consider from Ruger with the launch of the company's Hawkeye Long-Range Target chambered in 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creedmoor, building on Ruger's initial offering in .300 Win. Mag. These two new models are built on the company's tried-and-true M77 action, offering confident controlled-round feeding combined with a number of enhanced ergonomic elements.

For reliability and dependable case-extraction, the Ruger M77 is built with a Mauser-style controlled-round feed extractor, offering positive extraction combined with dependable ejection, thanks to a bladed ejector that kicks spent cases out with authority. Other features found in the action of the Ruger Hawkeye Long-Range Target include a single-piece bolt machined from stainless steel, a 20-MOA Picatinny optics rail and a three-position safety selector. The selector allows shooters to operate the bolt for loading and unloading while the gun is on safe or to lock the bolt into place to prevent any manipulation.

The M77 action is mated to a free-float, heavy-contour barrel that's cold hammer-forged from 4140 chrome-moly steel, and both 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creedmoor barrels are equipped with a 1:8-inch twist rate. To minimize bullet deformation and reduce fouling, the barrels are outfitted with 5R rifling and also feature minimum bore, groove and headspace dimensions as well as a centralized chamber for the best-possible accuracy. At the muzzle end of the barrel, which is cut with a 5/8-24 TPI thread pitch, consumers will find the same Hybrid Muzzle Brake used on the company's Precision Rifle to mitigate recoil and reduce muzzle blast.

Ruger's Hawkeye Long-Range Target rifle sits inside of a Target-style stock, complete with a two-tone, speckled-black and brown finish. The stock includes M-Lok attachment slots located on the underside of the forearm, enabling users to easily add a bipod. Quick-detach sling-swivel mounting points can be found at the front and rear of the stock, and a rubber buttpad reduces recoil impact on a shooter's shoulder. Custom-fitting the stock to a particular user is easy, thanks to an adjustable comb piece and length-of-pull spacers.
  • Two-tone Target stock features two-way adjustable comb, adjustable pull length with soft rubber buttpad, QD attach points and flush mounted Lower M-LOK® rail.
  • Unique, two stage, adjustable target trigger with a short "take-up" stage, followed by a crisp, light target pull with no creep or overtravel.
  • Non-rotating, Mauser-type controlled round feed extractor is the most positive case extraction system ever invented, and features a fixed blade-type ejector that positively ejects the empty cases as the bolt is moved fully rearward.
  • Three-position safety is easily accessible and allows the shooter to lock the bolt or to load and unload the rifle with the safety engaged.
