In 1873, Colt’s single-action Army (SAA) revolver became the Army’s standard sidearm. Cavalry troopers were armed with the new revolvers. Lawmen and outlaws alike were quick to adopt the handy new 6-shooter which earned the nickname “Peacemaker.” This model features a charcoal blue finish.
The Charcoal Blue finish is a delicate over-oxidized bluing applied to new model forged frame cattlemans. When new it is a bright blue color and over time with use it will naturally patina to a soft grey. All parts are charcoal blued except for the case hardened frame and hammer. The aging process takes a long time with this finish, but is very beautiful.
